3D Molecular Viewer
To view 3D molecular structures enter the chemical formula and click 'View'. In chemical formula you may use:
Any chemical element. Capitalize the first letter in chemical symbol and use lower case for the remaining letters: Ca, Fe, Mg, Mn, S, O, H, C, N, Na, K, Cl, Al.
Functional groups: D, T, Ph, Me, Et, Bu, AcAc, For, Tos, Bz, TMS, tBu, Bzl, Bn, Dmg
Interactive 3D molecular viewer displays chemical compounds as rotatable 3D models showing molecular geometry and atomic arrangements.
What is 3D molecular visualization?
3D molecular visualization shows the three-dimensional structure of molecules as interactive models that can be rotated and explored. The viewer displays atoms as spheres and bonds as connections, revealing the actual shape and spatial arrangement of the molecule. This interactive approach helps understand molecular geometry, bond angles, and the overall 3D structure of chemical compounds.
How to use the 3D viewer
The interactive 3D viewer has two cursor modes:
Hand Mode (default): Drag to rotate the molecule, Shift+Drag to pan, scroll to zoom
Info Mode: Click on atoms to see element information in a periodic table style popup
Switch between modes using the cursor button in the controls or press 'I' on your keyboard.
The viewer displays:
Atoms as colored spheres representing different elements
Chemical bonds connecting atoms in their proper spatial arrangement
Realistic molecular geometry showing bond angles and distances
